Precautions of recycling Butanone with solvent recovery machine

Butanone solvent is widely used in Coating and Painting industries. However, it should be taken carefully due to its attributes which are easily flammable and explosible. Especially the Static Electricity caused when recycling Butanone solvent. So, how should we do to avoid Static Electricity when recycling Butanone with solvent recovery machine?

Static Electricity generated is not a problem, the really matter is to prevent accumulation of Static Electricity. Electric charge of Butanone molecule cannot be conducted to elsewhere due to its bad electrical conductivity. Therefore, the Static Electricity will be moved together and accumulated on its surface. The electric charge can be transferred to ground by any electrical conductive materials with simply connection. So, we need pay more attention on following aspects when using solvent recovery machine to recycle Butanone solvents.

1. Prevent Static electricity when loading and storing

a. To use metal containers which have good electrical conductivity for story waste Butanone and recycled Butanone, do not use plastic containers.

b. To operate Butanone softly and slowly due to Static electricity accumulated on its surface released very slowly.

c. The greater rubber force between Butanone solvents and container and faster separate speed will cause more Static electricity. So, reducing shocking and shaking behavior as less as possible when operating Butanone.

d. To control flow speed of Butanone solvents within 3.5-4.0 m/s when loading to Solvent Recovery Machine and collecting recycled Butanone.

2. Static electricity prevention of Air exhaust system

a. Static electricity eliminating device is needed with Air exhaust tube. The material of Filtrating screen is metal preferred instead of polyester.

b. To inspect stability of Air exhaust system regularly.

c. To choose Explosion-proof Exhaust fan and well connected with ground.

3. Static electricity prevention of environment

a. To manage the air humidity above 70% to release Static electricity. (Humidifier and spraying water are good ways to rise humidity)

b. To avoid any source which carries Static electricity to get closed. Operators should wear Anti-Static electricity uniform and shoes. To install some metal on site to increase electrical conductivity.

c. Using Ionizing air gun or Ionizing fan as prevention to release Static electricity around Butanone Solvent Recycling Machine.
